Madhuri Dixit
Madhuri was an Indian actress, who gained notoriety for her roles in the films Hum Aapke Haiin Koun as well as Beta Saajan. She was first known for her 1980s role in Tezaab, in which she co-starred with an established actor Anil Koopor. Her next appearance was in Dil which she was on screen with Aamir. The daughter of a middle class family in Mumbai she began learning to dance from a very young age. At the age of 15, she started acting but had a difficult time as a majority of her films were flops. However, she eventually achieved success and became one of the top actresses on the Indian film business. She decided to take a break from acting due to her marriage, before going back to the entertainment industry. She played a major role as a lead actress in Gulaab Gang, a film focused on women's struggles in India. Dixit was nominated for fifteen Filmfare Awards. Of these, she has won 8. Padma Shri was awarded to Dixit, the fourth-highest civil honour in India. She has also been recognized for her efforts in the social sector.
